چکیده

Introduction The established and large-scale use of certain synthetic chemicals, especially pesticides, has led to their absorption and deposition in animals and man. The authors' interest lay in the pharmacodynamics of the synthetic organochlorine insecticide, dieldrin, which is primarily deposited and stored in the body lipid. Its study required repeated measurements of the deposition of this compound in the adipose tissue of volunteer subjects deliberately ingesting dieldrin, and in a random selection of the general population fortuitously exposed to dieldrin (and similar compounds) in an average normal diet. Open surgical biopsy of subcutaneous adipose tissue entails local scarring and discomfort, and so recourse was made to needle biopsy.

Combination of aspiration and non-aspiration fine needle biopsy for cytological diagnosis of thyroid nodules

Background: Good cytological sample is very important for the cytological diagnosis of thyroid nodules. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adequacy of prepared samples by the combination of aspiration and non- aspiration fine needle biopsy. Methods: In this descriptive – analytical study, sampling was done simultaneously for each patient in fine needle aspiration and non-aspiration biops...

Demonstration of protein AA in subcutaneous fat tissue obtained by fine needle biopsy.

Polarisation microscopy of material obtained by fine needle biopsy of subcutaneous tissue and stained with Congo red is a simple and reliable method for the diagnosis of systemic amyloidosis. It cannot, however, be used to differentiate histologically between different forms of amyloidosis. In the present study extracts of material obtained by fine needle biopsy of subcutaneous fat tissue from ...

A method for the ultrastructural preservation of tiny percutaneous needle biopsy material from skeletal muscle

Skeletal muscle biopsies require transecting the muscle fibers resulting, in structural damage near the cut ends. Classically, the optimal ultrastructural preservation has been obtained by the use of relatively large biopsies in which the tissue fibers are restrained by ligating to a suitable retaining support prior to excision, and by examining regions at some distance from the cut ends. Howev...

A simple technique for fat biopsy of PBB-exposed individuals.

A simple nonsurgical technique of obtaining fat samples by aspiration from the gluteal prominence was developed by Hirsh in 1960 and has been in use in our Nutrition Clinic at the Mount Sinai Hospital for several years. We have modified it for field use and the analysis of fat-soluble hydrocarbon residues. All the materials which will contain the fat sample to be analyzed are washed with aceton...

PERCUTANEOUS TRANSTHORACIC BIOPSY USING TRU-CUT NEEDLE

Biopsies of thoracic lesions guidance. 22 of the 1 12 lesions were mediastinal and 83 were pleuroparenchymal. A large-bore 14-gauge Tru-cut needle was used in all patients. Adequate specimens for histologic examination were obtained in 98%. The overall accuracy was 91 % with 9% false negative and no false positive diagnoses. Despite the large size of the needle, the total number of complic...
